This is "Victory". She is our home on the river. The dilema here is that as I continue to use my environment
as my subject matter, I become a genre painter. River scenes and nautical settings are my surroundings. The
attractiveness of our setting becomes the subject of the work. The "ordinariness" of the neighborhoods in my
work to date is part of the impetus to explore the works more. If the painting stands as just beautiful, the
viewer has no reason to explore further.
But, on the other hand, life on the river is wonderful. I wouldn't want it any other way.
