There May be
a Couple of Dubs at Winter Sports, but Piper Laurie and Scott Brady Have More Fun
Than the Experts, Opeining the Idylwild Season

Photo 1- Piper and Scott seated in
chairs before the fireplace chatting with each other- THREE HOURS DRIVE from the
warm air of Hollywood, Piper and Scott found brisk 5,000-foot climate an appetite-bracer.
So, after informal lunch at Idylwild Mountain Inn, coffee by the fireside hits the
spot; leaves 'em all set for snow sport.
Photo 2- Piper bending over and looking
over her shoulder at young girl holding autograph book who is looking at Scott standing
behind Piper- COUPLE of years back, Brady located at Idylwild. When Judy Williams,
daughter of inn's manager, asked for visiting stars' autographs this trip, he said.
"You already have mine." "But I'd like it again!" says Judy.

above the inn, a light snow had fallen, Piper and Scott were told. But it would be
good enough for their brand of skiing; so UI stars set out for their first try.

Photo 1- Scott throwing some snow on Piper
who is ducking away from him- SNOW'S A NOVELTY for Hollywoodites. Piper hadn't
seen any snow since leaving her home town, Detroit. (It was summer when she last
returned on a p.a. tour.) Snow she wants- Snow she gets.
Photo 2- Piper shoving
snow in Scott's face as he grimaces- THIS'LL TEACH Brady a lesson- for the second
time. Back in the fourth grade he socked a little girl with a too well-made snowball.
The principal made him throw snowballs over a fence for four hours. After that he
lost interest in the game.
Photo 3- Scott and Piper hiding behind a fence
preparing to throw a snowball at someone- COMES a common enemy, and former opponents
join forces. Though Scott's a good all-around athlete, he needed warmup to approach
skiing. Holiday gave him a chance to use Japanese Army snow boots he'd liberated
on Okinawa.

in red sweater and Scott kneeling to fasten Piper's right foot ski- DOWN TO BUSINESS
now! Idylwild slope is perfect for beginners like Piper and Scott, since it isn't
too high. Hard at work on UI's Son of Ali Baba (opposite Tony Curtis again),
Piper didn't want too strenuous an outing. As for Scott, he'd whipped from UI's Bronco
Buster into loan-out at 20th, The Marriage Broker.

Photos 1& 2- Piper leading Scott on the tow line; Piper
and Scott with legs spread on skis- SKILLED SKIERS using Idyllwild ski slope and
tow (a practice run for them) wouldn't approve Piper's technique on the tow,
cute as it looks. There's a knack in it- and even more to the skiing itself. Soon
as theis pair get going, both of 'em (they admit) felt as if they'd turned into centipedes,
with all their feet going in different directions. Efforts handed friend Judd Downing
a laugh; ten he provided tips on the right way to do it.
Photo 3- Scott laying
on his right side on the snow- IT HAD TO HAPPEN, but you cant keep a game
guy down. By the end of the day, Scott had at least learned how to stay vertical,
wanted to hang around for more. No romancers, he and Piper still hated to leave this
idyllic spot and return to the hullabaloo of Hollywood.
