A few of Lili's favorite things by Amy Talkington
Name: Lili Taylor
Home: New York
Current films: "Mrs. Parker and
the Vicious circle" and "Pret-a-Porter"
Boyfriend: Yes
Singer:
Nina Simone. She's an old jazz and blues singer. She takes a song, makes it her
own, and goes places, within the song that others wouldn't think of going.
City:
New York, because it holds so many strange scenes. All you have to do is walk
out of your apartment and stand on the street for a minute, and you'll see some bizarre
little human moment.
Food: Pasta. It just feels right for me.
Color:
Green. It reminds me of nature and it makes me feel alive.
Animal: Dogs.
They have an existence that is different from ours but is valid. They are uncensored.
Time
of day: 1:00 AM. Everyone is asleep and it's quiet. I love the night.
Season:
Fall. The air is crisp and exhilarating and there's a feeling of action and hope
in the air.
Feminist: Susan Faludi. She wrote Backlash. She's so
articulate and problems of women in society in such a way that people really listen.
Director:
I've had the pleasure of working with several amazing directors- Robert Altman,
Alan Rudolph, Nancy Savoca, Woody Allen. They each had their own special vision.
Writer:
Proust. He has the ability to describe those events or feelings that are usually
indescribable.
Makeup: None! I don't wear it. It's good to just be who
you are. I'd rather be me than do what society wants me to do to look perfect.
Artist:
Rodin. I am viscerally moved by his work. Like when you see a person crying and it
touches a feeling in your heart. I was moved by his work like that. -Amy Talkington
