Kaitlin Hopkins was born February 1, 1964 to famous actress Shirley Knight and actor/producer Gene Persson. Shirley and Gene were divorced a few years after Kaitlin's birth and in 1970, Shirley remarried to English writer John Richard Hopkins. Some years later, Kaitlin decided to take her step-father's name and goes by the name Kaitlin Hopkins. Kaitlin took acting courses at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and at the Carnegie-Mellon University 3 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Kaitlin is an accomplished actress who starred recently in the hit off-Broadway musical The Bat Boy, having originated the role of Meredith Parker in the Los Angeles production. She's a member of the Matrix Theatre Company and serves on the board of directors of the Edward Albee Theatre, the William Inge Festival, the Pasadena Playhouse and the Ojai Playwrights Conference. She has acted in many stage plays, beginning in the 1983-84 Roundabout Theatre in New York City where she played Marie in 'Come Back Little Sheba', followed by 'Robert Anderson, Gentleman Playwright', in April, 1985 at the William Inge Theatre. In 2000 she appeared with her mother in 'The Importance of Being Earnest', and she also appeared in Shaw's 'The Philanderer', 'Blithe Spirit', John Adams's 'Ceiling/Sky', and in 'Johnny Pye and the Foolkiller'. She was scheduled to appear in the play 'A Baker's Wife' in 2001. She appeared as Belinda Blair in the August, 2002 production of 'Noises Off'.

Her first appearance in a movie was as a reporter in Turk 182 in 1985, then four years later she got the role of Francise in 'Runaway Dreams', followed a year later by roles in Spirits and 'Gabriel's Fire'. From Feb., 1992 through March, 1993, she played Kelsey Harrison on the soap opera 'Another World', and later played Paula Simms on 'One Life to Live'. Kaitlin left the part of Kelsey Harrison in Another World in the spring of 1994 and immediately got a stage role in Los Angeles in Joseph Stern's play 'Habeas Corpus', which also co-starred her mother, Shirley Knight. She has had guest parts on the TV Series 'Beverly Hills 90210'; 'Spin City', 'The Ransom of Redchief', 'Silicone Wars', 'Murder She Wrote'; 'Dr. Quinn', 'Medicine Woman'; 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'; 'Wings', 'JAG'; 'Jenny'; 'The Promised Land'; 'The Practice' and 'Star Trek Voyager' (Dala). Kaitlin played Wallis Simpson in the TV film 'Only a Kingdom'. Recently she appeared in the movies 'Little Boy Blue', 'Breast Men' (TV), 'As Good As It Gets', How to Kill Your Neighbor's Dog, Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles, and The Big Wide World of Carl Lempke in 2003.

Kaitlin was engaged to actor Judge Reinhold in 1993, after he proposed to her on Memorial Day, but the planned marriage in early summer, 1994, was called off. Kaitlin later married actor Daniel Passer on June 10, 1996, but the marriage ended in 2001. Kaitlin continues to act on stage in such hits as the musical "Bat Boy", and in television and films. She recently release a CD of her music titled "Make Me Sweat".
