Felicity Huffman Biography

Felicity Huffman was the youngest daughter of a large family of six sisters and one younger brother. She was born on December 9, 1962. Her family lived in New England and later moved to Woody Creek, Colorado where she grew up. Felicty graduated from NYU. She learned her dramatic skills at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, and then joined New York City's Atlantic Theater Company, Circle in the Square, which was co-founded by her future husband, actor William H. Macy, and by the famous director David Mamet. She got her first film role from Mamet in his 1988 film Things Change. In that same year of 1988 she won the part as Madonna's understudy in Mamet's Broadway play "Speed-the-Plow" for which she won the prestigious 1997 Obie award.. She also appeared in the film Lip Service which was directed by William M. Macy. She appeared in New York theater and television productions such as Mamet's Pulitzer-winning play "The Cryptogram" in 1995.
In 1997 she married William H. Macy and they had their first child, a daughter, Sofia Grace, on August 1, 2000. They reside in Los Angeles and have a dog named Walter Wallingford, but they also maintain an apartment in New York. Felicity enjoys reading in her spare time and being outdoors and playing a variety of sprots, though she admits she doesn't follow any professional sports.
Felicity has appeared in the Broadway productions of "Joy of Going Somewhere Definite", "Oh, Hell!", "Boy's Life" and on television with regular roles in "Jules", "The Human Factor", "Golden Years," "Thunder Alley", and guest appearances on the series "Early Edition," "Chicago Hope," "The X-Files", "Law and Order" and "The West Wing." She also has appeared in the television movies "Quicksand," "Heart of Justice" and "The Water Engine." She also has appeared in the movies "Things Change", "Reversal of Fortune" (1990), "The Spanish Prisoner" (1998), "Magnolia" (1999) amd appeared with her husband in "A Slight Case of Murder" In 1998 she was cast as Dana Whitaker in the critically aclaimed TV series "Sports Night" which lasted two seasons..
