TORONTO- Actor Christopher Plummer has donated his original script for the film The Sound of Music to the Stratford Festival to be sold as part of the festival's fundraising auction, the Stratfor express.

The script includes Plummer's own hand-written notations.

The donation came as "a comlete surprise to the festival" said executive director Antoni Cimolino. Plummer said he was "delighted" to be able to help through his gift.

Plummer has been a member of Stratford's acting company for many past seasons and this last year joined the board of governors.

The May 26 auction, a black-tie gala, will include bidding on more than 100 items. Ticket buyers to the 17-year-old event will also get to see a preview performance of the festival's 2001 production of The Sound of Music. The Stratford Express raised more than $320,000 last year.
