"It is apparent that (19176) Robert Lathrop of Cherry Burton, co. York, with whom the pedigree compiled by somerby begins, was undoubtedly the son of the (38352) John Lowthrop who was taxed at Cherry Burton in 1523-2 and was one of he defendants in the Star Chamber case in the reign of Henry VIII."

"(19177) Ellen (Lowthrop) has been tentatively identified by Culleton as the daughter of (38354) Thomas Aston. In support..., both Ellen and her husband (19176) Robert name a Richard Ashton in their wills, but no relationship is given.

"They're tracing through the As(h)ton line. Unfortunately, according to the British documents that I've seen, there is no proof that Ellen Aston, daughter of Thomas, was a granddaughter of John, although it is assumed to be that she is a relation of some sort. Also, Robert As(h)ton married a Brereton, who would also be a royal connection. One of the biggest problems that I see with the genealogy as posted is that Baldwin Freville's dates are 1368-1401. He then has a daughter born abt. 1374, which is physically impossible (he would have been about 6 years old). Also, Baldwin's wife, Joan de Green(e), seems to have been born in or around 1366, again, an almost impossibility. These people would have had to have been married when they were 5. I will check with Burke's peerage later on and see what I find...

"...It actaully seems to be refuted. Everything checks out until you get to a Thomas Aston, who doesn't exist in Burke's. I also cannot find a Thomas Aston in the parish registers for the area, so I'm not sure what to say."
