10053. unknown (F)
ii. (5026) Capt. Nathaniel Turner
Nearly all websites show a Humphrey Turner as the father of (5026) Nathaniel; but this would make Humphrey a father at the age of 2 -- a miracle indeed! As for John Turner of Kent, some have Joan Lily as his mother, and some as his wife (one even has both). As for me, I'm always suspicious when a line goes from Kent to Derby to Devon in the space of two generations. (5026) Nathaniel and the above Humphrey were not brothers, either. A DNA found the two to be unrelated, though both were of the I1 haplogroup.
A participant in the TURNER DNA PROJECT, #134814, claims descent from (5036) Capt. Nathaniel Turner. His yDNA markers are shown below, along with that of a descendant of Humphrey (above),#17425, for comparison.

Nathaniel's haplotype is unique among those tested, unlike that of Turners from Scotland, Ireland, Staffordshire and other places. Because Hg I1 is spread throughout all England, Nathaniel could have been from anywhere in that country.
In 1891, the Turner surname was concentrated in Lancashire, Yorkshire and London, with lesser concentrations in Essex, Kent and the Penine Shires. Because Nathaniel was found in Somerset, he was more likely from London or Kent, or some southern location, than from the north.
