"(2445v) Hepzibah and three of her daughters was on June 1693 knocked on the head and scalped by Indians, but she and one daughter recovered from their injuries." The Wells Chronicles article by Charles R. Barr, reports that Hepzibah married [2] (2445v[2]) Daniel Belding on February 17, 1699 and was captured for a second time by Indians on February 29, 1704. She died on the march to Canada.

"In the massacre of 16 Sep 1696, (9887ii_b) Elizabeth (Foote) and three of their children were slain by Indians, two of the children were wounded and several were driven to Canada. (Her Husband) Daniel (Belden) was sold to the Jesuits, and redeemed in 1698.

"Daniel married 2nd, 17 Feb 1699, Hepzibah, daughter of (2446) William Buell, widow of (2445v[1]) Thomas Wells. She was born 11 Dec 1649, in Windsor, CT. On Tuesday, 29 Feb 1703/04, shortly before the break of day, Indians stole into the village, fired the buildings, captured most of the inhabitants, marching them to Quebec, Canada. A number of people were slain at the "taking of the town". Hepzibah was slain shortly after leaving the town, in the meadows, probably 1 Mar 1703/04. The daughter, Sarah (Belden), wife of Benjamin Burt, was with child but made the trip to Canada where the child was born.

"Daniel rebuilt his home, and later fought off, with other fellow townsmen, in 1709, another attack by the French and Indians."
