Some sites post sons Benjamin and Nathaniel as two separate sons, both born the same day and married on the same day to the same woman. At least some of their descendants, though, seem to think these were one and the same person. I agree with the latter.

2474. Thomas Bancroft

2475. Hannah Gardner

NOTES: I have received conflicting information as to who was the mother of (1237) Rebecca Bancroft. Some have (2474) (2474) Thomas marrying (2475) Hannah ("said to have been a Gardner", according to McCracken) on 15 Sep. 1648 in Dedham, Essex, MA, whereas McCracken estimates the time of this marriage as 1668. McCracken lists Hannah's children as Samuel, Ruth, Rebecca and Nathaniel. There seems to be some conflict here, with Samuel seeming to actually be the son of Margaret Wright, and a John not mentioned; but I lean towards his conclusions until shown good evidence to the contrary.

"TORREY does not give (2475) Hannah GARDNER as the wife of (2474) Nathaniel BANCROFT, instead, a Hannah WILLIAMS. A Hannah Gardner may belong to this family.
