Nearly everyone has (9888) Rev. William Gillett as either son or grandson of Jaques de Gylet (1549-), a Huguenot from Bergerac, Guenne, France. I don't believe this line for a minute, because of the DNA evidence. The Gilletts of Colonial Connecticut are of yDNA Haplogroup I1, which is distributed widely throughout Scandanavia, Saxony, and areas of settlement by Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Frisians. It is extremely rare in the Bergerac area of France, where the de Gylet family comes from. Our Gillett ancestors were almost certainly not French, but most likely British, of Anglo-Saxon or Viking derivation, and strongly supports the identification of (9888) William as the son of (19776) William Gillott, Lord Mayor of Leicester. This line also claims French descent, from 1307; but I doubt this as well (See map, below).
