The yDNA pattern of a descendant of (2272) Ferdinandus Vansichelaer, User #Z79R2, is available on Ysearch. This sample matches #N32391on The Van Syckle DNA Project, as well as two other users on that site. Kit #59424 (Van Sickle) on the same site differs at many loci, and may be considered a separate family.

Haplogroup R1b1b2 has a high correlation with the Atlantic Modal Haplotype (AMH), the most common haplotype in the world. The Ferdinandus Vansichelaer haplotype, however, differs from the AMH in 2 of 6 markers and is not very common: There are only two exact matches on Ysearch -- one from Ireland, and one from Wales. The result is consistent with the Dutch or Belgian ancestry postulated for the Van Sickles.
