1053. Anne (NOT Hailet)

There is an Ince presence in Suffolk going back well into the sixteenth century. They seem to have migrated from London via Essex.
In 1891, 28% of the English & Welsh Inches were in Cornwall; 20% were in Devonshire, and 16% in London. The Ince line showed an entirely different distribution: 33% in Lancashire, 15% in London and 8% in Essex. Ince was of Welsh derivation (from ynys = island), and Inch was a variant of the Scottish Innes (form "inis" = island).
