Imagine the lines of a Viking karv or inshore yacht. Now modify the stern for screw propeller propulsion; set the LOA at 21' 6" ( LWL 20' ) with a beam of 7' 2" ( BWL 5' 9" ). Remove the mast and oarholes and install a 7 IHP, two cylinder, half trunk, vibrating lever, back-acting engine ( ala Ericsson's "Monitor" engine ) and a 25+ sq.ft. watertube boiler capable of burning wood or liquid fuel. Construct and assemble all of this so the total weight, ready to steam, is about 1,500 pounds. Now you've got the idea.
I had hoped to be well along on the construction of the hull by this time, but a serious health "problem" ( now remedied ) and move to a different home delayed things. This has probably been to advantage as some things, which would have complicated the entire project ( remember the KISS adage? ), have been changed or eliminated.
