Hello PCEZ.com® - Internet Services Customer,

We've been getting a lot of questions lately on how to set up web pages on the server.  This is how it's done:

As part of the service, dial-up and DSL customers have an area to put up their web pages.  These pages can be of a personal nature or business.  With you 120 hour account you can have up to 10 megs of web pages and the unlimited account has 20 megs of web page storage.

We do not write these web pages.  If you would like someone to author the pages for you, we can give you a phone number for someone who can write the pages for a fee.  If you want to write the pages yourself there are plenty of tools available to write HTML pages.  You can find some of the editors that are available to write HTML pages at the site:  http://www.tucows.com

This server does not support MS Front Page extensions. This server does support PHP code version 5.

Once you have your web pages constructed you need to upload them to the server.  To do that you need a FTP program.  We suggest the WS_FTP program.  You can find this program at: http://www.tucows.com in the FTP area.

To set up the WS_FTP program once you have installed it:
1) Select New
2) Under "Profile Name" put in something like "My Web Page".
3) Under "Host Name" put in "ftp.pcez.com".
4) Leave "Host Type" at "Automatic detect".
5) Under "User ID" put in your login name (not your email address).
6) Under "Password" put in your password.
7) Under "Remote Host Directory" (this can be found under the "Startup" tab on Win95 versions), put "public_html".
8) Under "Local Directory" put in the path to your web pages on your  computer. ie. "c:\webpages".
9) On win 3.1 versions click "Save" on Win95 version click "Apply".
10) Make sure you are on line with us and click the "OK" button.
11) To transfer files just click on file on the "Local System"  then click  arrow in the middle to move the file to the "Remote side".  The program  is pretty easy to work with.

The opening file of your Web pages need to called "default.html".  If you find a page on your Web area that already has this name (default.htm) remove this file.  The reason to remove this file is that it is a bogus file with permissions set so no one except you can see it.  If you upload your new file with this on there the new file will take on the permissions of the old file and no one will be able to see it.

To see your Web page you must use the following URL:
http://www.pcez.com/~YourLoginName

Where "YourLoginName" is your login name all in LOWER CASE.

If you want to add a counter to your Web page check out:
http://www.pcez.com/Counter

I think that covers it!

Thanks,
