INCE & LARTER LINES

INDEX

DISCLAIMER:
The index, as well as the genealogy, is under construction -- and largely unverified. Entries marked with red question mark are probably accurate in most cases, but their link to this researcher is, at best, an intelligent guess. The icons resembling coats of arms are for navigational purposes only: they may or (almost always) may not indicate that the individual following had a right to bear that particular crest.

"[(9) Hilda Victoria Larter had] long auburn hair, slightly wavy. She was tall and upright, quite regal..., designing and making all her own clothes, material for which she had bought cheaply (but luxury material nonetheless)..."

-- Enid Marsh 30 Nov. 2000

The then Queen speaking to (8) Stanley Ince. The future Queen Elizabeth is standing to the left of her mother. I believe Lord Baden Powell is on the far left.

Matilda Fereday is no doubt the "Ferrell" mentioned to me by (8) Stanley Ince's daughter, Irene, as her "Irish" ancestor. Matilda lived in Dublin as a little girl, where her father owned a sugar refinery. The business went bust, and they became impoverished.

"Hackney was more country than town in those days -- The Larters owned a dairy farm, milking the cows, selling milk, butter and cream in their dairy shop. [(9) Hilda Larter]'s job was to drive the cows down to Hackney Marshes before breakfast, and back at sunset, housing them in the cow sheds. She would churn the milk, make and pat the butter...

[The Larter children] were all educated at the Central Foundation School, as were their grandchildren."

-- Enid Marsh, 30 Nov. 2000

Two of the Larter girls were unmarried in Apr. 1929.
